Sixth Commandment
You shall not commit Adultery.

Adultery is breaking the holy bond between husband and wife. The marriage vow between a man and a woman is a holy covenant that should not be violated under any circumstances. This commandment is designed to protect the institution of marriage and the family.

Dear Lord may we keep the marriage vows sacred and protect our families. Amen.

Seventh Commandment
You shall not steal.

This means to me that we do not have the right to take other people's things like their money, property, tools, etc. It also means that we do not have the right to trick other people into using means to gain an advantage so that we can get what we want. The commandment means a lot to me not only because my Dad is a cop, but because I think stealing is completely wrong. It means to me you cannot take anything from anyone at anytime.

Dear Lord, thank you for instilling in me honesty and thank you for the honesty of my family. Amen.

Eighth Commandment
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

This means to me that you should not tell lies about your neighbor or betray them in any way. We are to love our neighbor as Jesus taught us.

Dear God, thank for guiding me in the right path to be kind to other people and to watch out for my neighbor. Amen.

Ninth Commandment
You shall not covet your neighbor's house.

This says to me that if I wanted something that somebody else had, I should either buy it myself or use it when I went to the other person's house. If I ever did covet I would realize how bad it felt and would give it back. I do not want to make God unhappy.

Dear God, thank you for helping us to realize that it is a sin to want what others have and not be satisfied with what I have. Amen.

Tenth Commandment
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife
or male or female slave or ox or donkey
or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.

This means to me to respect your neighbor. This word neighbor is a metaphor for people in general. We should not want or steal what our neighbor has. We should follow God's example by not only respecting his things, property, etc, but respecting him as a person.

Dear God, please help me and everyone else to try to follow the tenth commandment and please help me to stay clear of coveting other people's possessions. Amen.

John 21:18-19
Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not wish to go.” (He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this he said to him, “Follow me.”

I picked this verse because I liked how Peter felt he didn’t deserve to die the same way Jesus did, so he had himself crucified upside down.

God, help us love and respect you. Amen.

Psalm 46:1-2
God is our refuse and strength,
a trusted help in times of trouble
and so we need not fear even if the world blows up
and the mountains crumble into the sea.

I believe that this small segment explains that even in total terror and evil we are to love and focus on God.

Dear Lord, please bless us and forgive us of our faults and lead us safely and soundly through life. Amen.
