Synod Assembly voting members are invited to gather at their Conference host site, with check-in beginning at 9 am ET / 8 am CT on Saturday, May 14, 2022.  We hope to conclude the business meeting by 3:30 pm ET / 2:30 pm CT.  If COVID-19 numbers prohibit in-person gathering, we will shift to an online meeting.

As you prepare for Synod Assembly, we require each voting member bring their own device (a smartphone, tablet, or laptop) and charger to the Conference host site in order to log into their email account.  We will use an email-based election system this year, and each voting member must have their own unique email address in order to vote.

Workshops & Visitor Information

We look forward to offering again a week full of pre-assembly workshops and content.  Please visit the online workshops page for the full schedule and details.  Opening worship will premiere on the NGLS YouTube channel on Friday, May 13 and links for visitors to view the business meeting will be available on our website and Facebook page. Voting members are required to be physically present at their host site to vote during the business portions of the Assembly on Saturday, May 14.

We hope for an in-person Synod Assembly.  Current COVID-19 protocols will be observed.

Special Guests

David Fredrickson joined the New Testament faculty at Luther Seminary in 1987. Ordained in 1980, he was associate pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Janesville, Wis., for the next three years. He is the author of Eros and the Christ: Longing and Envy in Pauline Christology (Fortress, 2013) and The Promise of Not-Knowing: A New New Testament Reading (Fortress, 2022).
